Makes 8 buns.
Ingredients:
3/4 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water
3 tablespoons soft butter
3 1/2 cups flour (I use bread flour, AP is also fine)
Method:
Add the yeast and sugar to the bowl of a mixer. Pour over the warm water and let it sit for a few minutes. Add the salt, butter and flour. Mix with a dough hook until the flour has all been absorbed. If the dough seems sticky, add another tablespoon of flour. The dough should feel tacky. Let the dough knead on medium low for 5 minutes. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover it. Let it double in size. This takes 60-90 minutes.
Dump the dough onto a floured surface and split it into 8 equal sections. Form into balls, making sure the seam is pressed together on the bottom. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and let them rise until nice and puffy, about doubled in size. This takes about an hour.
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Enjoy as pulled pork sandwiches or hamburgers!
