Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup butter
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 cup boiling water
2 eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Icing:
3/4 cups butter
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups icing sugar
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup walnuts (optional, but very yummy)
Method:
Add butter to a pot and let it melt over medium heat. Add the cocoa powder and whisk. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Add the eggs, sour cream and butter mixture. Whisk everything together. Add the boiling water and whisk again. Pour the batter into a well buttered baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. The cake is done when it just starts to come away from the sides and a toothpick comes out with just a few crumbs on it. Don't over bake!
While the cake is cooking make the icing. Add the butter, cinnamon and cocoa powder to the same pot you used earlier (less dishes to do later). Heat the pot over medium heat until the butter has melted. remove it from the heat and add the milk and powdered sugar and whisk. Pour over the cake as soon as it is out of the oven and spread it evenly to coat. Sprinkle the top with walnuts if you are adding them. Enjoy! *this is my version of Ree Drumond's recipe. It comes out perfect every time!
